Stylish Dinners

Shopbop.com celebrity fans including Kristen Bell and Lauren Conrad celebrated the online retailer's Spring Trends in style at a chic dinner at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (yea, that's the place I'm dying to go...lucky b*tches!). Some of LA's biggest fashion influencers showed up to discuss spring's biggest innovations in fashion and mingle with Hollywood elite. Ahhh to be one of the lucky, beautiful people!

I really am not a fan of Lauren Conrad, but she looks so cute in that outfit! Check out exclusive photos from the event below!

Soften Up

For months, years, I've been looking for a great product to really soften up my skin, I mean the really tough parts like elbows, knees and toots (that's feet for all you non-me's out there). I've done the Vaseline thing (it works pretty good) but really wanted something that smelled great and was effective (I'm all about nice smells).

I'm pretty much obsessed with Mad Gab's Lip Balm. Whenever I would go up to my ex-boyfriend's parents' house in upstate New York, we would always get breakfast at The Silo (delicious. really.), which included an incredibly cute shop of knick-knacks and natural beauty products. It's here that I first discovered Mad Gab's. The adorable animal packaging was a draw, and after first yummy use I was hooked.

So when I received the Sleepy Moose Balm I was pretty excited, but I had no idea what I should really do with it. Do I put it on my lips? On my temples? Under my nose (for aromatherapy benefits)? How exactly will this make me sleep? (I mean, I get it, the lavender aromatherapy benefits....but still!) Well, after I discovered it's serious moisturizing properties by testing it out on my elbows, I decided to try it out on the toots. A rub in here and a rub in there, and my feet were covered with a seriously moisturizing balm. Add some socks to allow the somewhat greasy balm (when it's warmed up it becomes much easier to rub in and absorbs into the skin perfectly) to seep into the skin overnight. I was left with smooth, soft skin with a lingering lavender scent. Perfecto!

Metallic Chic

So now that my cruise is officially booked, I'm searching for the best cocktail dresses to wow the cruise crowd in. I've found that I'm loving all the metallic dresses out there. Most of the ones I'm coveting are a little out of my price range, but I can still dream (and wait for them to go on sale of course!). Here are a few of the best metallic dresses on the market right now:

Herve Ledger is one of my favorite designers. The dresses are just so perfect. Tight and sexy, they grace the bodies of Hollywood elite and allow them to flaunt what their mama gave them! These dresses are no exceptions. I just HAD to share the sexy black dress that I'm salivating over at the moment, but the little silver metallic number is IT.

I was way ahead of the one shoulder trend. My junior and senior prom dresses. Both boasted the one shoulder...actually they were pretty much identical dressed, but my senior prom one had some beading and a higher slit :) ). I feel like, as trendy as the one shoulder is, it's also just a classic style that you will never regret wearing. This amazing David Meister one shoulder metallic dress is a little on the long side, but with a little sewing job it will look sexxxy! I'm in love.

Ombre Chic

I'm kind of obsessed with Helmut Lang's Spray Ombre Chic Dresses. It gives the perfect two-toned look and can easily go from day to night (leggings and boots for day, strappy sandles for night). As much as I love the black and white version (cause let's face it, my wardrobe consists of 90% black items) I'm really enamored with the nude version. Add some nude heels and some gold jewelry and it makes the perfect outfit for a night out on the town.

Trend Alert: Looking Grey

Grey and black lips ruled the runways at New York's Fall Fashion Week, and now we see the emo-inspired trend pop up again in Lady Gaga's new video for Telephone. It's no coincidence, the gal is at the forefront of the fashion world...

Anyway, I'm totally for this trend. When I was in high school, I had this amazing deep blue, almost black lipstick. It didn't look goth, it just looked GOOD, but I never had the confidence to wear it out. Sure I tried it on at home a lot, but I always thought that if I wore something so different and so outrageous that people would truly criticize me. Now, I wasn't one that needed to fit in all the time, on the contrary I explored my own style and trends in my own ways but the dark lipstick thing is one thing that sticks out in my mind that I remember of always being afraid to do (but, if you were a friend of mine back then, then you remember me at least trying it on for you).

So, I'm really glad that this new dark (really, really dark) lipstick trend is making "goth" a little more mainstream. Because, it doesn't matter if your lips are pink, red or black- it just matters that they look great!

Check out some of theses gorgeous dark lipstick shades...

Mattise Elite

I'm still on the hunt for the perfect charcoal shade. It seems that Chanel discontinued their special lines, but something tells me we'll be seeing a lot more dark greys popping up sooner rather than later.

Gaga's new video! She's kind of crazy and I dig that. The cigarette sunglasses were an interesting fashion choice...

Quit Being a Baby Lindsay!

Lindsay Lohan, come ON, do you really think you're important enough for E-Trade to care about?!!? Answer: No.

Apparently, Lindsay Lohan is suing the brand for "using her name"....really? really??? Sorry Lindsay, but just because a baby in an advertisement uses your first name, doesn't mean she's trying to be you in any way (think about all the negative press that would come out of E-Trade associating babies with that train wreck).

I mean where does this "lindsanity" stop people? Maybe the next advertisement that uses the name George, Jennifer or Robert should go to the courts too? Hell, maybe I should sue the next person in Hollywood that uses Lori....

Check out the video HERE...do YOU think they're alluding to Lindsay Lohan?

Get the Red Carpet Look: Cameron Diaz

The Look: Side Swept waves
Who wore it: Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock, Sherri Shepard, Kate Winslet

“The Veronica Lake look was in full bloom at this year’s Oscars,” says Gayle Giacomo owner and expert stylist, Gatsby Salon in Green Brook, NJ. “Sandra Bullock, Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz laminated the red carpet with this timeless style.”

Simple at-home steps to recreate this look:

  1. Start with using a volumizer on damp hair’s roots. (Try Gatsby Salon’s Texture Lift, $12.50 available by calling 732.752.4247)

  2. Use a blow dryer to remove excess moisture from hair.

  3. Section hair into five sections. A right and left section at the nape of the neck, a section on the right and left sides of your head, and the top of your head.

  4. Blowdry each section using a round brush and dry hair in a vertical direction, pulling the hair straight up from your head to create volume and lift at the root.

  5. After entire head is dried, form the same 5 sections. Use a 1 ½ inch barrel curling iron to curl sections, beginning at the bottom of hair sections.

  6. To create an arch and bend at the root, place the iron on the root and pull upwards as you move it to the ends of the hair.

  7. Once the iron has reached the ends, keep the curling iron horizontal as you rotate the iron back towards the root area, creating a curl. Once hair is heated in this position, release the iron from the hair, letting the hair fall.

  8. Follow immediately with a flexible hold hairspray (Try Gatsby Salon’s Structura Shaping Spray, $14.95 available by calling 732.752.4247) and allow hair to cool.

  9. Repeat steps 6 through 8 until your entire head is curled.

  10. Allow at least ten minutes for hair to cool entirely before touching it.

  11. Turn head upside down and use a paddle brush to brush through your entire head.

  12. Create a part that suits your style and use your fingers to tame and place hair to the direction you desire.

  13. Complete style by using a holding spray to secure this look.
